Every new month is exciting for me. I love new starts, and I know that every day can be a new start, but there is just something magical about the start of a month and all of the possibility that lies within the following 30 days!
The start of this month, in my opinion, is even more magical than usual because it is the start of Fall! Well, actually, the start of fall comes in 20 days, but September 1st is basically the representative start of the season (I'm not rushing summer away, I promise...I'm still going to soak in the last days of extreme heat).
September means a lot of things. For most people, it means the start of more routine with school starting back up. Whether you are a student or a parent, school typically means that there is going to be more structure in your life; more of a set schedule. Also, September and fall mean that crisp air and lovely, warm flavors are coming our way.
There are so many adventures to be had in Fall, just as there are in any season. Fall, though, holds adventures with a special character...adventures that excite me each year even if I repeat them every time the season comes.
This September 1st, Nick and I were on our way back from visiting our wonderful family, so we had a lot of time to think of Fall and dream up a Fall adventure list. We also thought up some goals. I want to list those later, but for now, it is time to wrap up the past week by giving some highlights! Typically, this would happen on a Sunday, but long weekends mean I get an extra day!
Things I loved this Week:
Pumpkin Baking- Yes, I started the whole pumpkin flavor frenzy in late August, and I'm so glad I did. I made these pumpkin cookies as my first pumpkin project of the season, and they were amazing (and pretty healthy!) I made them twice this week!
Whole Foods Hummus- A little bit too addicting, and the best hummus I've ever had, seriously. 365, you have outdone yourself! Go try it, now!
Learning More about my Husband- Long car trips leave a lot of time for talking. We definitely learned more about each other, and as I said before, spent time dreaming about Fall and what we want to accomplish/ enjoy!
Visiting Family- Saved the best highlight for last, because this was such a blessing. Nick and I decided last minute to make the most of our 3 day weekend and travel back home (home in PA, that is). So we did, and we had so much fun going to football games with the family, enjoying rib fest, spending time in loud rooms full of family and friends talking and laughing, and just relaxing on the couch of the house I grew up in with the amazing family that I miss every day. I was so happy to be home. I took basically no pictures, though, which is upsetting. Maybe it was too hot to focus on taking a picture? Next time!
Now, lets talk about some goals:
Health Goals: Before my wedding, I was in total health mode. I was working out at least five days a week and eating healthy the majority of my days. I had things planned out when it came to meals and work outs. I want to get back to this, because it just made me feel so good, and it was so good for me.
- Plan out meals during the week
- 80/20 principle: 80 percent of the food is healthy, 20 percent treating myself
- Work out 5 times a week
Career Goals:
- If I am still not able to find a full time teaching job, I will get myself on multiple sub-lists and make sure I am subbing 5 days a week for the majority of the month.
- Teach at least 3 after school classes/ week.
- Keep writing- I am going to join a September challenge and try to write a blog each day this month! I started blogging to get myself writing, something I feel like I truly needed more of in my life. I want to actually do it...every day this month.
Life Goals:
- Really involve myself in community in our new home.
- Stay very connected with family at home (of course)
- Joyfully serve others well, especially Nick.
- Document more of Nick and I's adventures (aka take more pictures!!)
- Make more adventures happen this month...aka live out the Fall adventure list!
- More date nights with Nick!
And...for the Fall Adventure List:
Here it is! The list Nick and I came up with for Fall. I'm sure we will add to it, but when we made a list like this over the summer, we totally knocked it out! I can't wait to see how we do with this one!
Dear Blogtember Challengers: Sorry that I didn't write an about me...I'm horrible at those! Maybe you'll get a gist of who I am in the above words, and if not, check out my about me page! I hope of the next 30 posts, you'll get to know me!
